Privacy Policy
The Short Version
Debut is a hiring platform. You give us career and hiring information so we can match candidates and companies on real work. We use it for that purpose, we never sell it, and a person is accountable for how it is handled. Questions any time: debutfounders@gmail.com.
What We Collect
From candidates, through Debby's intake:
- Name and email address.
- What you do (headline) and your experience level.
- Links you choose to share: LinkedIn, portfolio, GitHub or personal site, and the work you're proudest of, along with your description of your contribution to it.
- The tools you're strongest with, what you want next, and anything else you write in free-text answers.
From companies, through Debby's intake:
- Contact name, company name, and work email.
- The role you're hiring for, seniority, hiring pain points, timeline, and any notes you add.
Automatically: standard technical information needed to run and protect the site, such as server request logs kept by our hosting provider (which can include IP addresses).
What Not to Send Us
Please don't submit Social Security or other government ID numbers, financial account details, health information, passwords, or confidential information belonging to a current or former employer. Debut doesn't need any of it, and the intake never asks for it. If sensitive information shows up in a submission, we may remove it.
How We Use and Share It
- Candidate information is reviewed for matching, and may be shared with relevant prospective employers or hiring partners as part of Debut's hiring service — that is the point of the product, and it happens in the context of a potential match, not as a public listing.
- Company information is used to evaluate and match candidates against the role.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your submissions for advertising.
- New submissions trigger an internal notification email to the Debut team so a person can review them promptly.
Service Providers
Debut runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database where submissions are stored.
- Vercel — hosting for the site, including standard request logs.
- Resend — delivers our internal submission notification emails.
- Calendly — if you choose to book a call, scheduling happens on Calendly under its own privacy policy.
These providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries.
Cookies and Analytics
- We currently use no analytics or advertising cookies, and no third-party trackers.
- Your light/dark theme preference is stored locally in your browser, not sent to us.
- Because we don't track you across other sites, there is nothing for a browser "Do Not Track" signal to change, and we don't respond to those signals.
- If we ever add analytics, we'll update this policy first.
Your Work Stays Yours
- Links you share (repos, portfolios, documents) remain under your control on the platforms where they live.
- Challenge submissions are used for evaluation for the specific role, not as free work product for companies.
- We never claim ownership of anything you build or submit.
Retention
We keep submissions for as long as they're relevant to providing the service — for candidates, that means while your profile could realistically be matched to roles; for companies, while the inquiry or relationship is active. If you ask us to delete your information, we will. We may retain minimal records where needed for legal or accounting reasons.
Access, Correction, and Deletion
Email debutfounders@gmail.com from the address you submitted with, and you can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that's wrong, or ask us to delete your profile and submissions. We verify requests against the submitted email address and respond to every request personally.
Children's Privacy
Debut is a professional hiring service and is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16; if you believe we have, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Submissions are encrypted in transit, stored with reputable infrastructure providers, and writable only through our server, with access limited to the Debut team. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security — but we keep the amount of data we hold small and treat it carefully.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Debut grows, and the effective date above will change when we do. If a change meaningfully affects how your information is handled, we'll say so plainly on this page and notify affected users by email.
